Really depends on the generation. Since FSX is over ten years old by now, it doesn't require that much graphics power compared to newer games.
I've had FSX run smoothly on a MacBook Pro from 2011 without many plugins, and I would assume that a MacBook Air from 2013 or later should have sufficient computing power.
A common pitfall, though, is cooling the laptop. As many others claim, FSX is a relatively CPU-intensive game, so expect some heat emanating from the MacBook Air. I recommend buying a cooling pad or similar.
